ABOUT BAIL BONDS
Bail bonds are money paid to the court to ensure a defendant’s appearance in his or her court trials.
IS BAIL NECESSARY
Posting bail is not necessary but you will remain in jail until your case is over.
HOW CAN I POST MY BAIL
Bail can usually cost about a few thousand dollars, but if you can pay for it on your own, then it will be less expensive.
You should hire a bondsman if you can’t afford the amount of bail.
If you hire a bondsman, you will only have to pay 15% of the bail amount while the bondsman will pay the entire amount of bail to court.
WORKINGS OF A BOND AGENCY
A bondsman is paid because they take a risk for the defendant. A 15% down payment is charged by the bondsman to get you out of jail
AND PREMIUMS ARE?
Premiums are the amount of money paid to the bond company for their services and taking a risk on the defendant.
The state regulated premium amount is 15% of the full amount of bail.
ARE PAYMENT PLANS OFFERED?
If the cosigner can’t pay for the premium of the bail bond, there are payment options available depending on the bond amount.
HOW LONG IS THE RELEASE TIME WHEN BAIL IS POSTED?
The release time can take up to 12 hours for county jails and about an hour for police stations after our paperwork is given.
It will take longer if the holding facility is busy.
DO BAIL AGENTS HAVE A LICENSE
A background check, exams, and a licensing from the State of Nevada must be done by a bond agent.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY FORFEITURE
Forfeitures happen if a defendant fails to show up in court. Because of this the bail bond company will have about 60 days to get the accused back to court.
If this fails, the bail bond company owes the court the full bond amount.
MEANING OF EXONERATION
As long as the defendant shows up for their court appearances, the bond is exonerated.
If this happens the person who put up collateral or the bond agency will be released from their financial responsibility pertaining to the defendant’s case.
